In 2006, Glamour magazine chose Cambodian anti-trafficking activist Somaly Mam as their Woman of the Year. In preparation for the award ceremony, celebrated photographer Norman Jean Roy flew into Cambodia to photograph Somaly Mam at her child protection centre in Kompong Cham. A major photo shoot, Hanuman Films sourced equipment and technicians from as far afield as Australia and supplied all logistical services within the kingdom. Somaly Mam travelled to New York in November 2006 to receive her award and has since been the subject of a best-selling book and several international documentaries for her work to combat sex slavery.
