Vietnam is the embodiment of exotic, a land of striking locations from the stunning Tonkinese Alps of the far north to the pancake flat Mekong Delta in the south. Hanoi is an elegant capital of grandiose French-era buildings, gateway to the natural wonders of Halong Bay. In Central Vietnam, Hue is a cultural city of temples and tombs, while nearby Hoi An is a timeless town of beautiful buildings with Chinese, French, Portuguese and Japanese influence. In the south, Saigon is a buzzing city and a great base for exploring the vast sand dunes at Mui Ne or the remote and isolated Con Dao Islands.
