Angkor – The Lost Empire

At the height of its power between the 9th and 15th centuries, Angkor was a resplendent city, considered the most extensive urban complex of the pre-industrial world with one million inhabitants. But by the late 16th century, the empire was in its death throes. The people of Angkor left not a single word explaining their kingdom’s collapseā¦ a mystery waiting to be unlocked by modern archaeologists, scientists and explorers.
Director Murray Pope produced this visually stunning film, an epic adventure where science, mystery and ancient civilization intersect. Kulikar Sotho was Executive Producer for the film and Nick Ray was responsible for the stunning locations. Hanuman Films worked on the permissions and logistics for the shoot, which including a night shoot with hundreds of monks at Angkor Wat, as well as permission to shoot at the mountain temple of Preah Vihear. The crew was also able to film inside the National Museum in Phnom Penh and set up some incredible seasonal timelapses over the Tonle Sap from Phnom Krom and Kompong Pluk.
