(Video content – 4 videos of 2min – 2020)
Hanuman Films was commissioned to shoot a series of remote temple videos in Preah Vihear and Kompong Thom in partnership with the Greening Prey Lang (GPL) project from USAID. These videos are to help promote domestic travel while international tourism remains grounded.
Preah Vihear is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva and was built by successive kings from the 9th to 12th centuries. It is stunningly situated atop a 525m cliff in Northern Cambodia, delivering the most spectacular setting of all the ancient Khmer temples.
Koh Ker was the capital of the Khmer empire under King Jayavarman IV from 928 AD to 944 AD. Boasting dozens of temples, this is one of the largest complexes around the temples of Angkor and one of the least visited.
The most remote temple in Northern Cambodia is also known as Prasat Bakan, this was the second city of the Khmer empire. This gigantic ruin was one of the largest temples during the Angkor period, built between the 9th and 12th centuries.
Cambodia’s most impressive group of pre-Angkorian monuments, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sambor Prei Kuk was an ancient city of temples built to honour the Hindu god Shiva in the 6th century AD.
