Two Brothers
Renowned film director Jean-Jacques Annaud’s adventure drama stars Guy Pearce and two young tigers in colonial Cambodia and showcases the orphan cubs’ struggle for survival in a human world. A Disney-style plot it may be, but it is beautifully shot around the temples of Angkor and some groundbreaking locations in north-east Cambodia. Nick Ray worked as Location Scout, selecting the locations throughout Cambodia with a number of memorable scouting missions with JJ and team in 2001.
Nick worked with First Assistant Director Christophe Cheysson on locations including Battambang, Kampot, Kratie, Kompong Cham, Mondulkiri and Ratanakiri. Kulikar Sotho worked on the full technical scout, arranging all logistics such as accommodation, transport and catering. She also worked as a facilitator and translator for the team on their travels around Cambodia. Interestingly, around 30 tigers were used for the film, the majority flown over from French zoos and others from Thailand.
Locations: Temples of Angkor, Siem Reap, Phnom Penh, Kampot, Kratie, Kampong Cham, Mondulkiri
Talent: Guy Pearce, Jean-Claude Dreyfus, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Freddie Highmore, the tigers.
